An Alternative Perspective

A commitment to independent decision-making

Realisation that what you are told,
led to believe or exposed to,
is not the only way.

Perspective is the collective of influences which dictate the way that we see, judge and approach everything in life.

Two people can look at the exact same thing, or situation and conclude to completely contrasting outcomes because of their different perspectives.

But it’s construction is not always immediately in our own control.

An Unconscious Bias

This is because it is formed over time, reflected by the patterns of our every day environment.

That is the surroundings, conditions and personalities which we are exposed to.
These factors contribute to impacting our own behaviour, values and mood – both positively and negatively.

Whilst we will always maintain that we have our own opinion and make decisions for ourselves, it is true, only within our current state. Because the repeatability of every single detail we experience compounds to become what we eventually perceive as ‘normal or expected’.

If we do not know any differently, then there is no reason to believe otherwise.

The Comfort Zone

An Alternative Perspective is not about being ‘right or wrong’. It is simply re-claiming the control to have an opportunity to make more natural choices – without overwhelming, unknown bias.

It is the result of leaving your comfort zone and experiencing broader examples of lifestyle and culture. This unlocks true self-awareness and builds confidence through understanding, validated by your own cognition.

When we operate with an alternative perspective, it enables us to consider more context, to judge others less and to not care about what everybody else thinks.

When we have activated this level of understanding, we can actually focus on what we enjoy.
Because we are no longer adjusting to other people’s standards, or trying to please people.

Social Constructs

Leaving your comfort zone is the most challenging thing to do because it is contradictory to how we are told to feel. Safety. Don’t take risks. Be sensible. It is a negative and restrictive message derived from an intention to control others.

There are no actual limitations or rules.
Simply artificial ones created by mainstream society influencing your expectations of norms and values.

Rules are only followed because we choose to.

Many of which for good reason. They are logical.

But many others are unnecessary and restrictive – yet we feel obliged to live by certain ways in order to fit in or please people.

If you are happy, then it is all irrelevant. But if you complain then you have to do something differently.

You have to realise that you have a choice.
